I picked up an 86 aero

when I bought it, it had a dead battery, and would not idle once you release the throttle

I opened the airbox... no filter... I cleaned it up and placed an order for a filter.

I cleaned the carb and made adjustments and now it starts in one kick idles with no problem... even though I don't have a filter

here is my question. I want my cruising speed to be at least 45..

I ordered a poloni big bore kit, keli variator, and 1000 clutch springs

will these modifications be sufficient to meet my goal of 45mph?

great! thanks guys

i am excited... it's already fun to ride and thinking about how it will be after I install the parts makes me grin

well at least after the LONG break-in

after seeing that this local shop charges 6.99 a quart for gn2  I picked up 8 quarts of gn2 for $20 from a craigslist local

I got my big bore kit in the mail today and it's installed

it came with a jet but the directions say it may or may not fit.
does anyone who has this kit for an 86 aero know if it will fit my carb or will i waste my time taking it apart

You clearly haven't worked on your bike enough. It would have taken me longer to come inside and post to the forum than it would for me to take the carb off, clean it and put it back in.

here is an update:

polini kit installed
keli variator installed
1k clutch springs installed
new front tire
new speedometer cable

even though I am still in the break-in process, I opened it up today and my speedo registered just below the top of the E on the fuel guage

this is not my picture(found it on the forum)
it will give you an idea of where my speedo was
any guesses on how fast I was going?
