Blow Out!

Friday night I was riding my 85 Spree daily rider to the downtown cruise night they have every month. I was going with a few scooter heads here in town to represent the scooter amongst all of the V-twin blapper cycles out there.
I had a blow out about two blocks from the square.

I had to get myself and the bike hauled back to the house. I knew it was coming - I was riding on the original tires and they had more cracks in them than the Great Wall of China. Still, I got over 600 miles out of those dogs.
New tubes and tires are on their way.

front or back tire?
Did you almost crash or where you going slow enough to just stop? I have blown a rear at like 50mph and i thought for sure i was going to crash. It was pure luck i didn't.

I was going about 15mph pulling into a parking lot. It felt like I hit a patch of gravel.

I have been told that on bigger bikes it gets dangerous when you are going under 55, going in the 70s you barely notice it on a big full size MC. Or so I have been told.

Centrifugal force will keep a large tire "inflated" (or at least it doesn't lose it's shape) unless you have an extreme blowout and the tire rips itself to shreds.
Only blowouts I've ever seen are people burning rubber

when i worked at the tire shop the day my new tire and tube were coming in, my rear tire blew on the way to work. i rode 5 blocks on a flat rear, sliding all over the place. if you thought a spree was underpowered, try a spree w/ a flat. very exiting ride

irony at it's best.
