Air escaping, exhaust washer?

As you can see above /\ /\ /\ I'm not the best at titling posts. Hopefully the description helps more.
NB50M (1984 Aero) Won't tune worth anything. Every day I have to re-tune the carb messing with the screws. The exhaust seemed a little loose today so I tightened her back up. Started it up with the panels still off and when I put my foot down after kicking it I felt air blowing against my leg. Upon further examination it appears to be air escaping from the head. I just wanted to check and see if we can all agree that there's an exhaust washer missing or something? Any other likely problems? Would this problem keep me from getting my idle right and having the carb tuned for longer than one ride around the block?
Also any thoughts on the possibility of a washer from another bike fitting? 84 Aeros aren't the most popular of bikes on eBay. I've never even seen one of those washers sell. Can I get a replacement at the hardware store?? (Oh please say yes!
