Okay, got new plug end, still only goes 30mph. UGH

Put on the oko variator I bought, and using the supplied weights, I accidentially did my first wheelie, and it tops out at 35mph now. Is this still slow? Thought others got like 40mph with just the oko variator.

Anyway, I don't have a scale, and my friends don't either, so i'm gunna go buy one and weigh that muffler.

I saw you stated that you did the variator mod.

My question is, did you do the exhaust mod?

There is a restriction washer in the head pipe of the S pipes, that needs drilled out.

A top notch mechanic explained to me that the 50cc scooters are jetted on the ragged edge because of the carb and jetting size. There is a noticeable difference in how my S runs when it is 50 degrees and when it is 20 degrees. You need to rejet for the cold weather, but I don't know which way. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I have never seen a scooter that ran well in real cold weather.

Greetings:

In an effort to reduce hydrocarbon emissions, most manufacturers jet exactly as you said - the "razor's edge" of lean. Any leaner and it won't run. Consequently if dense cold air increases the O2 content of the intake air, it will run even worse. Too much oxygen, not 'nuff fuel.

If the bike is owner-upjetted on the rich side, colder air absolutely WILL improve things, as I have personally discovered.

Computer-controlled EFI attempts to solve the whole mess.

i have not drilled out the washer in the head pipe. Do I have to do that to go 35mph on stock elite without the new variator?

What size jetting do you guys suggest, if i'm going to be driving the scoot in 20-40 degree temp?

I asked this question before. Can someone give me a picture of where this thing is so I can drill it out!!!

I also have the problem of my elite being slow. It seemed to do only 35 once on the flat. But when I got it running it was only doing 28max. Now I do about 30-32. Then just seems to be out of power. I have cleaned out the exhaust and cleaned the jet. still only get 30-32mph Cant quite get back to the 35.

Deffinatly want to be doing 40+

Exhaust restriction(if equipped) is a washer welded in right at the beginning of the pipe(engine end). Use a dremel to remove it. Check for carbon at the exhaust port of engine, you can set the piston so it covers the port and chip the carbon off with a brass screw and a shop vac on the port while chipping.

wow, what a friggen day. as stated above I was running * poor. @ 32mph. With a goal of 35. Today I hit 40mph!!! WTH!!!??? All I've done is reduce my gas by half and remove the aircleaner.

Is it really weather related? Cause it's a nice day out side at 80deg.

Are the elites really that finiky?

Yes.

Another thing to consider is belt wear.

If your belt is wore out it will take a couple MPH off the top end.

Removing the air cleaner will make it run lean, running lean will melt your piston, keep that in mind.

hmmm. Yea, don't want to roast the cylinder! need to get a new air cleaner. Filter and all. Old one has kicked the bucket. I was useing an oil air filter from a car for awhile. One of those crome jobs. What kind of filter should I get to replace it? I have not idea what the intake hole size is on stock carb. If I did I'd order an OKO or something to fit it.

Also does the weight of the gas come into play with speed? Like I said I have a half tank right now and it's running tops!

If you go with a non factory filter setup you will need to rejet the carb. UNI makes the best filters.
