I am now using ATF and it works great.Didn't see any extra wear on the gears when opened up after about 50 miles. varying speedsup to about 50mph.

thers is no drain oil. You need to unscrew the 5 bolts holding the plate to the case and carefully pry the plate off as to not tear the gear case gasket.Clean out the case and reinstall the plate. Then refill oil throu the fill hole till the oil level gets to the fill hole.
wheres the fill hole for this?

In my 1985 Kawi four wheeler (the 185), it is shaft drive, and I ran into some confusion about the final drive in that. The manual said 10w-30 in one place, and 90 weight in another place. I called the local Kawasaki dealership, and he said either. I put 10w-30 in it, and haven't had a problem. That's what I'm going to put in my Elite.
