spree carb questions: tuning 44mm BBK

set up is in sig. i am running nq50 intake and carb w/ sb50 reeds. well oiled uni filter. 44mm bbk. bpr 7hs plug. premix 32:1 + oil pump. 95 main jet.
so my spree is running strange. will not run w/ out air screw seated and idle screw seems to only have 3 setting: super fast idle, very weak idle, or no idle. nothing in between. and she runs great w/out the idle screw installed but will not idle. i'm still breaking in so i havnt gone above half-ish throttle but she runs like a top.
bystarter?

main jet is a little big but if you do a plug chop and its white ish vacuum leak for sure but with it bogging on the bottom and reving out on the top its probably too rich, my kit has extensive porting and i have a 90 jet and my plugs come out perfect...

my mistake. its actually a 95 main jet. im fine with a little rich on break in. have not taken her above half throttle so i dont know what WOT feels like. vac leak is possible, but very improbable. the reason i suggested the bystarter is because it seems to "calm down" after warming up.

yeah air leak makes sense to me. i got a new petcock and mounting nut is less than optimal. i'll switch back to the old one and see if that doesnt solve anything.
thanks
or maybe ill throw some more gas in the tank.

more oil does lean fuel mixture but also allows better lubercation which makes it ideal for breakin periods and he does have his setup rich to begin with so his oil mixture is fine, the fact that you have no experience with this subject makes all of your postings invalid so get off it...

Your lack of knowledge of 2 strokes is apparently vast. You never break-in with less oil than you plan on running, EVER!

I remember when 25 to 1 as the standard, back in the bad old days, I mean everyone used it and I have personnally run as much as 18 to 1 myself in special circumstances.

the petcock was not the problem. i also tried a different by-starter for kicks
Sprayed WD-40 all around looking for a leak, but couldnt spike the rpm.
and now it seems worse: i have essentially no control over idle. so a LOT of air is getting in somewhere.
new exhaust gasket, top end gaskets, intake gaskets, hoses are very snug. has vacuum. good compression. uni is on tight.

if you can spray along the case, you could have a case leak, try case and bore and bore and head as well and im not sure about wd40 never tried that before but if you have had sucess go with it

have you used something else or have a different method? i think i read bear used this method in some post...
ill check the head, case, and bore seals. the seal might expand a bit after running and this may be why it seems to calm down when it warms up..

f*** this bike........

WD40 itself is not flamable but the propellant it uses is and will cause the motor to rev up. You can always use stating fluid (ether) if you prefer.
