Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

After limited sucess with a spree carb, I am going to try to use an elite carb on my elite engine.

Problem is my elite carb is cracked and deformed in the area where the bystarter fits to it, so a bystarter won't fit. How can I run the spree without a bystarter. Do I need to stick something in the hole before/after starting, etc?

It's probably not the best idea to run a carb that cannot utilize the bystarter correctly, but if you must, you might try finding an old bystarter needle valve assembly first. Then, push it into the hole in the middle where it normally goes, and tape it off good. Of course, then you won't have a working choke, so that defiantly shouldn't be your first option. I would highly suggest either getting another carb that isn't deformed, or try and repair the one you have. If you can, post a picture of the deformed area; that way either I or someone else can take a look at the pic, and let you know whether it is repairable(or worth repairing) or not.

...or get an aftermarket carb with a manual choke. Though I'm sure you're tired of spending on that beast.

MadDog? 14mm is the stock size of elite carbs?

If I tape off the bystarter hole like you said, it would be hard to start but fine once its warm and running, right?

i ran mine whit out a bistarter and it was fine for like 4 mouth then i got a bistater and its ran like new but now i dont have a air box lol

Yes, it'll be a little hard to start on cool mornings, but it should run fine once it's warmed up. Make sure that you have a needle valve assembly off of a by-starter pushed in there all the way until it seats, and then tape it off good, otherwise the bike might run too rich.
