Suup all need some advice. I have a friend that have had a Honda elite that has stop working a year an half ago. Now it is sitting in my garage. I have clean the carb ,change the air filter ,change the spark blug , i dump the old gas and old oil out . I've bought a new battery and change the fuse. I have tried to electric start it but not even a sign that says it will electric starts. So I tried the kick start . Nothing happen . Then I choke it with my hand it start but went dead again . I know it is not my carb because I clean it over and over . Every times I take the air filter out and choke it with my hand then put back the air filter box then kick start . It start for at least 15 second and died again. I am about to buy a compression tester to run a test. Question does it required a specific compression test ? Because I stop at auto parts today the cheapest one I saw was for $20.00.

Other questions
When I unscrew the fours screws on the top of the cylinder there is one part that seems it is glue and I can't reach the piston to look at it . How do I get the Piston out????????

When I finish running a compression test and change rings if needed would that result the fact that it can't electric start???????? :peace:

Honda Elite Won't even start?

When you put your hand over the carb to start it, do you also twist the throttle a little bit?

Yes when I twist the throttle and choke it . But if I don't choke it and twist the throttle there is no sign it will start . The funny thing is if I don't twist the throttle and don't choke it there is sign it will start .

http://www.hondaspree.net/other/SA50_88-02_service.pdf This will help with your troubleshooting.

The by starter may not be functioning properly. there is an easy testing procedure in the wiki section of the forum. http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5?title=Main_Page

it's a starting place. good luck

you might need to soak the carb in a carb cleaning solution. spraying it with carb cleaner doesn't always get the very small pilot hole cleaned out. or view this topic viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22645 if you know someone with the cleaner.
