I noticed today that my oil plug is leaking. has anyone else had this issue? the oil plug is the one vt cycles sells. any tips on sealing it?

ok yah I did notice the threaded hole on the back of it. I can't quite picture how that would work. I'll have to take it apart again I did get it real tight when I installed it. I was woundering if anyone else had this problem? mabey I could put an extra o ring on or something teflon tape idk.

Mine have leaked too. Last time I had the engine off I slathered it with Hondabond before tapping it in. Seems dry since.

ahh yes. I think that is the solution.

I did not intend for the reader to get the impression that I relied on Hondabond alone to secure the pump plug.
The Hondabond filled the gap between the case hole and the plug, but the plug itself is secured by an extra-large fender washer, properly shimmed to apply pressure to the "mushroom" end of the plug. The tapped hole may prove useful if it ever needs to come out; Screw in a 6mm bolt and then use the bolt to pull out the plug. Use a gentle touch with a slide hammer if necessary.

you can use honda bond on the plug before you install it to get a better seal.

honda bond is a rtv like sealer you smear some around the plug and install 24hrs later the honda bond is set and your plug is sealed

yes you do need the washer spaced out to hold it in place the honda bond just helps the big job the little O ring has to do .

im talking about a smear not half a tube gees really dude get ahold of yourself you babbling makes no sense

If you don't mind can't you explain this spaced out washer to hold it in place? I have no clue what you mean and I'm installing mine in a few days. A picture with an explination would be awesome if its not to much of a bother.

Once again, my use of Hondabond was only to seal. The plug is secured with a fastener over a large washer, shimmed to apply pressure to the plug. Don't overdo the Hondabond and it'll be fine.

sometimes the plug wont sit flush with block so you need to add a washer or two on top of the plug.
This is trafficjamz picture. looks like this plug is flush with the block.
