Searched and couldn't find anything...
Is it possible to bore the stock cylinder from 41mm to 48mm? I know Taz sells a kit, but can I just buy the piston and then have it bored?

if you can bore the stock cylinder ?
take into consideration price of everything
Piston$$
cylinder boring & honning $$
Gaskets $$
your time finding someone to do the work
dropping it off picking it up and than waiting for it to be done and gas $$
or buy it shipped to your door and done $$

I would not suggest boring a 41mm cylinder to 48mm. the ports would surely change timing drastically as the farther out you go, the port ceilings drop.

I really liked my big bore setup on my spree. It was pretty fun and if you want more guts on the cheap its a good way to get it. Its way cheaper to get the whole kit.

Keep us posted how well it works. A lot of people say it will seize up because the quality is poor. So give us updates every so often please.

Well that's not what I want to hear....
It appears to be good quality so it should be interesting.
I'm gonna create a build thread so keep an eye there.

Great tip pauly! I always do that to my new cylinders. Even if the whole thing is supposed to be bolt and go, it likely needs the proper port chamfers done before you install. It sure helps the durability. Many of the big bore spree kits have been very durable. The cylinder kits from Taz is real and not junk, as long as you follow proper break-in procedure everything should be great.
