Standard spark plug size on an 89 Elite?

I've reached the stage where I need to remove the old spark plug and put in the new one on my 89 Elite. I tried the biggest metric socket I own, an 18mm, and it wasn't quite big enough. What size is the spark plug nut? 20mm? Bigger?

Its 11 or 13 sixteenths of an inch(cant remember), you need a special spark plug socket.

I've got a standard spark plug wrench, but that's not fitting...

Hey, is there maybe some sort of rubber boot around the plug? I can't see in there too well, but that would explain it not fitting any of my sockets.

There is the plug wire and a rubber boot the seals the gap between the fan shroud and the plug.

Is the rubber boot removable without pulling off the shroud? The second bolt holding the shroud on is tucked behind the carb, and I don't really want to pull the carb off just to change a spark plug.

You just pull it off, its kinda obvious. do you have the sidepanels off?

BTW you have some false info in those pics in your sig, a chanisaws oil tank does not auto mix, you put premix in the gas tank and bar oil in the oil tank (for lubing the chain, this part is usually automatic). A chaninsaws oil tank has nothing to do with engine oil.

A sprees is 13/16. You have to have a deep well socket. The spark plug shouldn't be metric.
