Clean the carb, read the tech docs for instructions on everything.

.......And check the gas flow from the petcock. If you wait 20 minutes or so then it runs again for a while and shuts down you may not have enough gas flow because of a bad petcock or blocked filter.

Guys, lay off the plug chops. Plug chops are only really critical on non-stock scooters. Most people don't do them right anyway, so let's start with the basics.

Sounds like the bystarter is closing up after 30 seconds (by design) and once it does, your scoot quits running. I think it's most likely that your carb is dirty, which is the root cause of at least 50% of the problems we see here.

I will agree here. Plug chopping is not necessary unless it's a performance tuning measure which isn't the case here based on what the OP posted.

Keep in mind that cleaning the carb doesn't mean merely spraying it into the carb while it's still on the bike with everything connected to it. The correct way to do this is to remove it, take it off the bike, remove all rubber seals/plastics that may not take well to the solvent, disassemble the carb (have an experienced person help you if you never did this before), remove the bystarter (electric choke) then start spraying into all the little holes and tubes. Make sure you spray with the throttle valve closed, partially opened, and full WOT, then chase it all down with high pressure air and blow through all those little holes. Clean the inside of your fuel bowl, if it's lined with slimy stuff clean all that stuff out, that's the fuel going bad.

If you can trace the fuel line, look for your inline fuel filter and change it with a new one, it doesn't cost much. If it's one of those clear filters, check to see if you have a lot of crap going into it, if there's a lot of junk in there like rust flakes, that's a sign that your tank may need to be cleaned/purged.

Not really, it can tell you whats up in an extreme carb issue and its peace of mind once it seems to be running right.
